This March 3rd marks 10 years since Billy “Wild Bill” Lange vanished Binger, Oklahoma. His family still searches for answers all these years later.
60-year-old Billy “Wild Bill” Lange was last seen on March 3, 2016, at his job site along I40 and the Canadian River near the Canadian/Caddo County line. He lived in Binger, Oklahoma and worked as a ranch hand in Hinton, keeping a steady routine that rarely changed. Each morning, he stopped at the same convenience store for coffee before heading to work. That day was no different. He also placed an order for tires at a local shop in Hinton.
By all accounts, it was an ordinary day. But Billy never returned home.
The following day, March 4, his tan Chevy Blazer was discovered abandoned along eastbound Interstate 40, west of the Calumet exit near mile marker 115. Inside were the personal items he carried daily — his keys, eyeglasses and ci******es — left behind as if he intended to return.
Family members say the circumstances make little sense. Billy was a creature of habit who did not deviate from his schedule. He disliked driving at night and had no known reason to be traveling along I-40 after dark. He had told loved ones he planned to be home that evening.
Investigators have considered multiple scenarios as to what might have happened to Billy. Still, questions linger. Those close to him say he often carried large amounts of cash and used a prepaid flip phone, leaving little digital trail for investigators to follow.
His daughter believes his disappearance was not random. She says he was dependable, hardworking and deeply devoted to his family. He loved farming, riding his Harley, and spending time with his children and grandson. He rarely missed work and followed the same routine day after day.
Billy’s case is classified as missing under suspicious circumstances. No arrests have been made. No definitive answers have surfaced.
As the years pass, his family continues to push for the truth. They believe someone knows what happened on that stretch of highway in March 2016.
