ALPHA WARRIOR DEVOTIONAL�8 July 2026
“Purpose ➡️ Identity”
In a world that constantly pressures us to define our worth by achievements, titles, possessions, or performance, the Holy Spirit gently reminds us of a deeper truth: our purpose is not something we must frantically chase or manufacture. It is firmly rooted in who we have already become in Christ Jesus. When we are born again, we receive a brand-new identity that reorients everything—our calling, our daily steps, and our eternal impact.
Jesus taught Nicodemus, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again” (John 3:3).
This new birth is not mere religious adjustment; it is a supernatural recreation.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The old identity—bound by sin, fear, and self-striving—dies. In its place rises a beloved son or daughter of the Most High, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, sealed for redemption.
This identity is the very foundation of purpose.
Ephesians 2:10 declares, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Notice the order: we are created in Christ first, then equipped for the works He already prepared. Our purpose is not a vague quest for significance; it flows naturally from being who God says we are—chosen, royal, holy, and His treasured possession (1 Peter 2:9).
As new creations, we are called to reflect His light, advance His kingdom, love as He loves, and walk in the good works tailored uniquely for us.
Consider the Apostle Paul. Once a persecutor defined by law and zeal, his encounter with the risen Christ transformed his identity. From that moment, his purpose—to proclaim the Gospel to the Gentiles—emerged from knowing he was “a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle” (Romans 1:1). The same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in every born-again believer (Romans 8:11), empowering us to fulfill the Father’s purposes.
Today, pause and declare your true identity aloud: “I am a new creation in Christ. My purpose is to glorify God, walk in His prepared works, and bear fruit that lasts.”
Let this truth silence every voice of comparison or confusion. Whether in the boardroom, the home, the church, or the mission field, your greatest impact comes not from striving harder but from resting in whose you are. Abide in Him, and fruit will abound (John 15:5).
Heavenly Father, thank You for making us new in Christ. Anchor our hearts in this identity so that our purpose flows freely from Your love. Fill us with boldness and clarity to walk in the good works You prepared. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

“Touched”
Jesus took Peter, James and John up a high mountain and there they were witnesses to the Transfiguration of Jesus. The saw Him lifted up in His glory along side Moses and Elijah.
Peter, frightened and overwhelmed asked if it was good for them to be there. And while He was speaking, God speaks:
“While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my one dear Son, in whom I take great delight. Listen to him!”
When the disciples heard this, they were overwhelmed with fear and threw themselves down with their faces to the ground. But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Do not be afraid.” When they looked up, all they saw was Jesus alone.”
Matthew 17:5-8 NET
In the overwhelming presence of God the Father, in the fear of mere mortals in the presence of a Holy God, Jesus touched them.
In the verse before this Jesus is talking with Moses and Elijah, two mammoths in the Christian Faith; but in the midst of this heavenly conversation, Jesus looks down and notices that His followers are scared, on their faces with terror and awe, so he reaches down and touches them. And then reassures them.
“But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Do not be afraid.” When they looked up, all they saw was Jesus alone.”
Matthew 17:7-8 NET
Just Jesus, reassuring them, comforting them and bring them to their feet.
Jesus is still doing this today for His believers. “Get up, Do not be afraid”, He is still there for us.

“Founded on The Foundation”
As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day and look back at July 4th, 1776; there was a significant event that happened exactly one year before that paved the way for the most historic governmental and societal reset in history; the founding of The United States of America.
General George Washington’s first General Orders were issued on July 4, 1775 (the day after he formally took command of the Continental Army in Cambridge, Massachusetts, during the Siege of Boston).
These orders addressed immediate administrative, logistical, disciplinary, and morale issues for the newly unified Continental Army (formerly various colonial forces now under Continental Congress authority).
The General Orders were a broad preparation for the war to come. Washington was thorough, including everything from Logistics and Supplies, Command Structure, Unity (Emphasized that the troops were now “the Troops of the UNITED PROVINCES of North America), Discipline, and Moral and Religious Conduct (often highlighted in discussions of the orders).
A few excerpt from Washington’s General Orders to all the troops of the Nation:
“The General most earnestly requires, and expects, a due observance of those articles of war… which forbid profane cursing, swearing and drunkeness; And in like manner requires and expects, of all Officers, and Soldiers, not engaged on actual duty, a punctual attendance on divine Service, to implore the blessings of heaven upon the means used for our safety and defence.”
George Washington ordered church service attendance. Officers and soldiers who were not on active duty were expected to attend punctually. The goal was practical and spiritual: to “implore the blessings of heaven” for the army’s success in defending American liberties. This reflected the common belief that military outcomes depended not just on strategy and courage, but on God’s providence. Washington arranged for chaplains from various denominations.
He also promoted positive Christian character, famously stating in orders and writings variations of:
“To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.”
After Washington was made our first President, as Commander In Chief, he issued a notable General Order on this topic on May 2, 1778, from Headquarters at Valley Forge.
“The Commander in Chief directs that divine Service be performed every sunday at 11 oClock in those Brigades to which there are Chaplains—those which have none to attend the places of worship nearest to them—It is expected that Officers of all Ranks will by their attendence set an Example to their men.
While we are zealously performing the duties of good Citizens and soldiers we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of Religion—To the distinguished Character of Patriot, it should be our highest Glory to add the more distinguished Character of Christian—The signal Instances of providential Goodness which we have experienced and which have now almost crowned our labours with complete Success, demand from us in a peculiar manner the warmest returns of Gratitude & Piety to the Supreme Author of all Good.”
Washing stated if a Chaplain wasn’t available, Officers were to fill in to the best of their ability with the divine knowledge granted.
Our country was founded on Christian values and on God’s favor, protection and providence.
They can attempt to rewrite the history books but the facts are that the early leaders knew where our strength, character and freedoms originated from. Only one source, God!

Our creator gives us the rights we have, not government, not man.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Father, Draw the United States of America back to You and the design You birthed in its founders wisdom. You gave us ultimate freedom in Your son and a place to worship Him freely in Your nation. Heal our land and our hearts, bring us back to You; for us and our children’s-children.
