Akhil Autism Foundation
We’re excited to officially begin this important research journey.
We are proud to announce that our study, STEM 2 Autonomy, has received Institutional Review Board approval (IRB Approval No. Pro202500849). This milestone confirms that our work meets the highest standards of ethics, safety, and scientific rigor.
With IRB approval in place, we are moving forward with researching the Neurosensory Foundation Program TM using advanced, precision-based data collection methods. This study is designed to objectively evaluate neurophysiology and sensory-motor systems in both neurotypical individuals and those with autism and related neurodevelopmental conditions.
Dr. Mona Elsayed clearly explains the objectives and approach of our research.
By integrating wearable digital technologies into sensory integration therapies, we aim to advance more personalized, measurable, and data-driven approaches to care.
This initiative is led by Dr. Elizabeth Torres at Rutgers University in collaboration with:
• The Sensory Pathway Center
• Akhil Autism Foundation
Together, we will:
✔ Digitally track therapy progress through wearable technology
✔ Provide structured training to support therapy at home
✔ Enhance outcomes using science-backed tools and individualized care plans
Our shared mission is to empower individuals with autism through research, innovation, and compassionate care—bridging neuroscience, technology, and clinical practice to create meaningful, lasting impact.
We are deeply grateful to our partners, families, and community for their continued support as we move into this next phase.
If you’re interested in learning more about the study or exploring participation opportunities, we’d love to connect.
