Homeward Bound

A great song by Patty Griffin, off her 2007 album "Children Running Through", which by the way also features her most-downloaded song "Heavenly Day". The song draws explicitly on the mountaintop imagery that Dr King used in the famous speech he gave the night before he was assassinated. With Emma Hutson on lead vocal, Scott Card on guitar, Josh Carlin on drums, Nate Carlin on bass, and Brad Carlin on piano.

We previously released a live version of this song, recorded (appropriately) on MLK Sunday (1/19/25), but this "studio" version was recorded in the GSUMC band room on 2/6/25 by the comparable Christian Nielsen, who also handled production and added the lovely visuals. This is being released in online worship today, Transfiguration Sunday 🙏🏻
