Not every invoice is real. This email is a real phishing message that was received by the CSI Tech Corp team. The scam is real, it imitates a Geek Squad renewal notice sent to our email, but several warning signs reveal it’s a phishing attempt.

Note: Geek Squad is a legitimate, well-known U.S. tech support service owned by Best Buy, which makes its name a frequent target for impersonation.

Before responding to an unexpected invoice:
- Verify the sender’s email address
- Avoid calling phone numbers listed in the message
- Confirm charges through the company’s official website or account portal

Mark Wheatley (CSI Tech Corp CEO) recently had an interesting experience with Gemini AI that perfectly illustrates why human judgment still matters.

During a routine home maintenance check, Mark found a fragment of a vintage baseball card. Curious to identify the player, he snapped a photo and uploaded it to Gemini AI.
What started as a simple question about an old baseball card turned into an interesting lesson about AI. Read our CEO’s firsthand experience below:

“I had an interesting interaction with Gemini AI this weekend. I found a baseball card fragment in my heating ducts when they were being cleaned. I took a picture, uploaded to Gemini AI and asked to scan and tell me who it was. it came back 2 weeks ago with 1950s willie mays and when I challenged, it dug in its heels and said I was incorrect. After providing a name, clues and even the actual baseball card that I found online, it finally came back and said it was wrong. Interesting....

I performed the same exercise last night with the same fragments and Gemini AI and got different names, but this time I documented the interaction.
Point is that society is starting to put trust into the models and information, assuming it's correct because is has access to the vast information on the Internet. This proves that we as humans, still need to challenge the results and not take everything we read at face value. This is also becoming a think with Deep Fakes which means we need to also challenge things we see.” - CEO Mark Wheatley.
