A good friend of mine pointed out that today is the first day of Fall, and what a stunningly beautiful day it was! Typically this weather makes me think of apple picking, the Renaissance Festival, big sweaters, haunted houses, and watercolor!... Well, maybe not watercolor but I thought this was the perfect opportunity to paint a vibrant, orange, Fall beacon (The humble pumpkin of course!)
I have had a bit of a hiatus from art but I'm hoping to jump back into action full swing... At least I'll try to make time in between all my wedding planning 😬❤️🍂🍁

Landscapes are not my specialty. In fact I have avoided them over the years because they felt intimidating. To force myself out of my comfort zone I went through a painting prompt today where you choose a photo, identify the basic shapes, and then just go in and slap some paint down. No sketching and the colors were chosen a bit haphazardly; whatever was easily accessible on my pallet was an equal contender.
I chose a picture from my trip to the Colorado National Monument in Grand Junction, CO back in 2015. Not sure where the time goes, but hopefully I'll be able to make a trip out to see my Grandfather, Uncle, Aunt and Cousin again soon. Lots of nature to explore out there with them!

After finalizing my Spring semester at Arizona State University I was able to start May with many happy notes!
First, grades have been posted and it looks like I am continuing my "A" streak as I pursue my bachelor's in Geographic Information Science. Hooray!!
Second, I had a wonderful experience at the art show hosted by the AAUW, Harford County, MD Branch at The Liriodendron Mansion in Bel Air. I am humbled to have had the opportunity to connect with so many talented artists as well as meet the amazing people that make up our community. Loved every second of it.
Now that school is over (for now!) I plan on pouring all my energy into growing as an artist and an individual. Can't wait to see what the rest of the year has to offer. ❤️

Took a stroll through a friend's yard and came across a stunning plant I had never encountered before. Hellebores are a low growing plant with bell shaped flowers and toothy foliage. I was particularly drawn to the gorgeous petals and felt compelled to sketch them.
I really love how this turned out and I look forward to painting these using watercolors!!
