Tuckered out from strutting our stuff and meeting new people. We are just gonna take a nap while we wait for someone to adopt us and take us home.

Come on down to PawPalooza in Coolidge Park to meet the and other babies looking for their forever homes. Here until 3pm.

🐾❤️ THIS is what success looks like. ❤️🐾

When Diesel came to us as a stray nearly three months ago, we knew finding the right home would be important.

Diesel isn’t the kind of dog that falls in love with everyone in the first five minutes. He’s a big, handsome guy who can be a little gruff during introductions. Because of that, we’ve been very careful about where he went and who he went with.

A few weeks ago, a nice couple came in and met Diesel. The visit went well, and then they casually mentioned they had FIVE kids.

Five.

Now, for some dogs, that would be a deal breaker. For Diesel, we weren’t sure. So we asked the family to follow our meet-and-greet protocol and come back with the kids.

On Saturday, they did exactly that.

Jenifer, our resident “dog person,” sat all the kids down and explained how to meet Diesel, what to do, and what not to do. We started with the oldest child and brought Diesel into the kitchen. Then the next child. And the next. We worked our way all the way down to the littlest one.

What happened next was pretty remarkable.

Diesel lit up.

It was as if he had lived with kids his entire life.

We watched carefully to make sure the activity and excitement of a large family wasn’t overwhelming for him. We talked with Mom and Dad about managing high-value items during the transition period and setting everyone up for success.

Thankfully, Mama Bear runs a pretty tight pack. 😊

Today we received the update we’ve been hoping for.

Everything is going great.

Diesel is settling in, the kids adore him, and he is officially part of the family.

This is what we call a success story. Not just because a dog got adopted, but because a family took the time to do it right.

Happy tails, Diesel. ❤️
