2023 Americanism night at the American Legion. Two scouts completed their Citizenship In the Nation requirement 6:
choose a speech of national historical importance. Explain:
(a) Who the author was
(b) What the historical context was
(c) What difficulties the nation faced that the author wished to discuss
(d) What the author said
(e) Why the speech is important to the nation's history.
(f) Choose a sentence or two from the speech that has significant meaning to you, and tell your counselor why.. Two scouts read an entire speach and discussed how it was relevant to events happening today and how we could learn from the principals discussed in the speeches to help us through these times. Fun way to do this requirement, the Veteran's were happy to see our youth doing activities like this!
