Summit Planting Initiative

Over the last few months, the economic and political situation in Haiti has grown worse. With the announcement last month that the government would no longer be subsidizing the cost of fuel, “one of Haiti’s most powerful gangs seized control of a key fuel terminal in the capital of Port-au-Prince.” For those who are able to afford fuel, it is largely being distributed on the black market at high prices of as much as $19/gallon. The lack of fuel is contributing to businesses, schools, and banks either being closed or “operating on a limited schedule.” It is also making it difficult for clean water and food to be distributed in the nation.

The Haitian Prime Minister has requested that the international community step in, and the UN is now evaluating a plan of action. In the meantime, the United States has stated that they will be sending humanitarian aid and more heavily supporting the Haitian police. However, the Haitian people are taking to the streets once again, now to protest any foreign involvement on the ground due to the grim past of the UN presence in Haiti.

Please join us in praying for the nation of Haiti. We pray for our churches and their congregations, as the situation is making it difficult for many to find transportation to services, when it is even safe to do so. We pray for provision as many are struggling to get food, water, or even electricity. We pray God’s peace overwhelms them in the midst of turmoil. We pray for peace in Haiti.

As the Miami Herald states, “Nine months after the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, Haiti’s politicians and civic leaders remain at loggerheads over the deepening political crisis while the population is growing increasingly frustrated with gang-related violence and kidnappings, and an economy in free-fall.”

As countries around the world are seeking to rally around Haiti to provide assistance and stability, continue praying for the security concerns in the country as well as for a solid government that seeks the good of the country.

Partners can be both individuals and churches who agree to come alongside Planted Churches in the Summit Planting Initiative. This could look like a one-time event or an ongoing agreement, and this partnership may include prayer support, financial support, and/or hands-on support for Planted Churches.

This organization exists to glorify God through planting and supporting like-minded churches around the world. We seek to plant churches with indigenous pastors who are excited about growing God’s Kingdom in their home countries, and we are passionate about partnering individuals or churches with Planted Churches to support them by prayer, finances, and/or hands-on assistance.

The Summit Planting Initiative is fully staffed by volunteers from Summit Point Church, so 100% of all donations go toward the ministries and various initiatives of the organization.
