Whether you’re exploring circles, sharing a slice of pie, or thinking of ways you'll continue to challenge students, today is a great reminder that mathematics is full of curiosity and discovery.

We’re proud to share a newly published article in Education Sciences highlighting the design, field testing, and evaluation of Connected Mathematics®4 (CMP4).

In this study, CMP authors Alden Edson, Samantha Wald, and Elizabeth Difanis Phillips examine how teacher feedback shaped the development of CMP4 and how the curriculum promotes student engagement, problem-solving, and meaningful mathematical discourse.

Grounded in years of field testing across hundreds of classrooms, this research reinforces what many teachers already know: problem-based mathematics supports deeper understanding and stronger student voice.

🌏 CMP Goes Global: Dr. AJ Edson in South Korea 🇰🇷
CMP recently had a strong global presence at the AIET in STEM Forum in Jeju Island, where Dr. Alden Jack Edson, CMP4 Author and Research Associate Professor of Mathematics Education (PRIME), joined international scholars, educators, and students to explore the future of AI in STEM education.

During a joint workshop with students and teachers from Jeju Science High School, Dr. Edson helped participants explore how AI can support, not replace, high-quality mathematics teaching, while also engaging in CMP4 learning activities.

The forum brought together experts from South Korea, the United States, Germany, Taiwan, and beyond, reinforcing CMP’s long-standing commitment to research-based, globally relevant mathematics education. Dr. Edson’s participation also highlighted CMP’s deep history of international collaboration, field testing, and curriculum usage.

We’re proud to see CMP contributing to global conversations about AI, equity, and meaningful learning and excited about what’s ahead.
