Plan of attack:
First step is to create piles of like with like.
Second step: start with your largest category and begin with what you use and love: put them in a keep pile. Next identify broken, no longer used (or needed/liked) items and put them in a ‘to go’ pile: donate, trash, returned if applicable. There is also an ‘elsewhere in the house or return to someone else’ pile.
After completing this second step with each category you should be down to your most loved/ used items in each category, a donate pile and an elsewhere in the house pile.
Third step: look at your space and decide where the particular category belongs in the space. All books should be together, all gaming items together, all shoes, blankets, kid toys, etc.
Fourth step: is to find proper storage that will hold all items of one category where you would like them. If it’s a bookcase, make sure all the books fit in it. It’s it’s a toy chest, make sure it’s large enough for all the toys you want to store there and so on.
Once you find a home for each category, labels are the next step to keep you focused over the next weeks. Each bin, basket, drawer, shelf: create a white label with large black letters so you can easily return items where they go.
There are additional steps after this, but if you choose to follow these steps and get to the labeling stage, message me and I will continue to coach you about your space, or like my page for continued help!
Good luck! You will feel fabulous and your mornings will be much smoother if you take the time to complete these steps and create some good systems, I promise!
