BLOOPERS! Oh, the glamorous life of independent musicians: fixing hair, voice cracks, forgetting the words to songs were DEFINITELY should know by now, laughing at ourselves, laughing at each other, and occasionally nailing a take.

I can’t believe I went my whole life without hearing this hymn. Two years ago, during Lessons and Carols prep, our music director Kacy played me “See Amid The Winter’s Snow” for the first time. She played Annie Lennox’s version and I was completely taken by it—stunningly beautiful.

Fast forward to this year: my friend in Nashville asked if I had any Christmas songs to pitch to playlists. I immediately thought of this one. So we got together—me, producer , my daughter , and Coyote violinist —and knocked it out pretty quickly. Had a blast working it out.

This is the first song where Chloe and I sing together. That alone makes it special. She has such a cool voice! It was really fun to decorate the downstairs and sing it together just the two of us while game 7 of the Word Series played on the tv on the wall next to us. Festive! 😂

Also can we just acknowledge the elephant dwarfing the Christmas tree? Here’s a Christmas song weeks before Thanksgiving and I’m firmly in camp no Christmas music before then. The irony of my hypocrisy is not lost on me.
