Hey all 👋🏼 it’s me Gabi. I am finally up to sharing why I sold my business and chose not to open a coffee shop in our neighborhood. I wanted to share because I know many women who have worked hard to build their business and step away. I was dealing with intense suicidal ideation and my husband and I were considering rehab. The other option to us was selling the business. I need to have space to grieve traumas and care for my health. I look back on the month before I made this decision and I cannot believe how close to death I was. I’m in such a different place now and I’m so grateful. I have struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts my whole life but nothing like that month. So many things were weighing me down. And like many of us I was living and surviving for my loved ones. I came to the point where I decided that I wanted to live for Gabi. The strength and support I received from my husband and close friends was powerful. It has been the best choice for me and my family. I wanted to thank you all for financially and emotionally supporting Caballo Rojo Coffee for the past 7 years. We met so many sweet friends through the business, and many of our fondest memories come from this time. Being a Latina owned business in Durham was incredible and I hope to create more avenues for connecting with our community in the future. Currently, my family and I are just enjoying getting time to rest and get to know the other small businesses in our neighborhood. We have loved Braggtown/Colonial village for some time and are excited to have space in our lives to enjoy where we live. Thank you again for investing financially and emotionally in Caballo Rojo Coffee and our family. That chapter of our lives will always be cherished.

We are so excited to be partnering with La Poblanita Bakery right here in our neighborhood for these fun, freaking delicious pastries. Gonna be soooo beautiful in the pastry case so soon 🤩

The incredible men of Caballo Rojo (with the help of our buddies Jun and Zach) moved our roaster into the shop today. Got teary seeing it there - what a journey it has been 🤍

Look at our beautiful new bags! We’ve had so much fun transitioning our style to be something that better represents us in this phase of life - a touch more feminine and funky. And the best part - they’re totally COMPOSTABLE (except for the tintie)!

Looking at these bags makes me feel the same way I feel when I think about mine and Gabi’s bestiehood. Safe, silly, funky, warm, and us. Hope you love them as much as we do. Thanks to our amazing designer, for killing it as always!
