After posting this on my story, I realized many of my fellow bass compadres feel the same way.

Here’s why I think rehearsal is important. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve played a song or how well you know it. It’s about FINE TUNING. In this clip, plays a note that inspires a whole moment that pops up. It reminded me of how when things are hectic, there’s always a moment of fresh air at the end to reflect.

This is not an ALL THE TIME rule. I like to create moments in real time on stage. This isn’t about that. This is about composing little nuances that make you sound like a band and not just a bunch of good musicians jamming together.

My goal has always been to create experiences. I’ve never cared much about being the best. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to be remembered.
