Durham County, in partnership with Orange County and Granville County, has been selected as 1 of 12 local governments nationwide to receive $1.5 million in funding from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Competitive Program, a funding opportunity from the Office of State and Community Energy Programs at the U.S. Department of Energy.
The three counties are joining forces with several partners to launch the NC Energy Burden & Emissions Reduction Program (EBERP). The programβs priorities are to reduce local energy burden and greenhouse gas emissions in Justice40 communities across the three counties. EBERP plans to conduct neighborhood-focused residential energy upgrades to make homes more energy-efficient. Plus, offer neighborhood education and workforce training to create new opportunities and skills.
