Durant Fire Department
03/20/2026
Our hearts are heavy for Goldsby today.
Two brave firefighters gave their lives while answering the call, serving their community with courage and selflessness.
Their sacrifice is a stark reminder of the dangers our firefighters face every day. When duty calls, they go—regardless of the hour or the risk.
We stand with the Goldsby Fire Department, mourning alongside their families, their colleagues, and the entire fire service community.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

🚒 Annual Fire Hydrant Testing Underway 🚒
During the month of March, our firefighters will be conducting annual fire hydrant testing throughout the city. This routine testing helps ensure hydrants are working properly and ready when they are needed most to protect our community.
While testing is taking place, residents may notice firefighters operating hydrants in their area and could experience brief periods of discolored water. If this happens, simply run your cold water for a few minutes until it clears.
We appreciate your patience as we complete this important work to keep Durant safe. 💧🚒

❄️🔥 Fire Safety During Winter Storms 🔥❄️
Winter storms can increase the risk of home fires. As colder temperatures move in, the Durant Office of the Fire Marshal encourages residents to take extra precautions to keep their homes and families safe.
✔️ Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
✔️ Use space heaters safely and keep them away from flammable items
✔️ Never use candles during power outages
✔️ Keep exits, driveways, and house numbers clear
✔️ Use generators outdoors only and away from doors and windows
Half of all home heating fires occur during the winter months. Stay alert, stay prepared, and be fire smart this winter season.
