First United Bank is celebrating its 125th anniversary and there was a community celebration Monday where Durant Mayor Martin Tucker presented First United CEO Greg Massey with a proclamation from the City of Durant. A proclamation also was presented at last week’s city council meeting.

There was a No Kings Rally in Durant Saturday.

Colton's Main Street Run is Saturday, and early packet pick up was Friday.

Choctaw artist Janie Umsted spoke to Washington Irving third graders Monday at the Southeastern Legacy Plaza about her sculpture of “The Two Brothers, representing the Choctaw and Chickasaw tribes. Umsted spoke about the history of the tribes.

Durant Public Schools had a Hispanic Heritage Celebration Wednesday night at the intermediate school.

Caddo Bruins Homecoming King and Queen are Kale Brister and Brilee Tyson, both representing basketball. They were named during a ceremony before Friday’s football game. Junior attendants are Audrea Aguirre and Cade Millermon.
