Moving Line | Official Trailer (2025) 12/20/2024

Presenting the trailer for Moving Line!

Black Mountain Production's first documentary short, Moving Line, tells the story of the first crossing of Colorado by skis. In 1978, three amateur skiers embarked on an extraordinary journey, starting in Durango, CO, and skiing a continuous line across the entire state, finishing near the Wyoming border.

Moving Line not only explores this incredible 490-mile trek through Colorado's rugged terrain but also highlights the deep connections forged through the experience—between the skiers themselves, the breathtaking outdoors, and the boundless creativity and self-expression that spending time in nature inspires.

Black Mountain Productions Presents: Alexander Drummond. A Moving Line Story 12/13/2024

The final episode in our mini-doc series introduces audiences to Alexander Drummond, one of the three members of the expedition to ski across Colorado. A Boulder native, Alex has spent much of his life exploring the Colorado Wilderness on skis, bike and on foot. Somewhere along the line, Alex discovered his interest in poetry, which turned into a lifelong passion of reading and writing his own poems - many of which are inspired by his time outdoors. It's that connection between time spent outdoors and the inspiration to be creative that can result in self-expression. And while Alex set out to accomplish something unique, that connection is something shared by us all.

Black Mountain Productions Presents: John King. A Moving Line Story 12/02/2024

John King is a resident of Lyons, CO, an acclaimed artist, and one of the original members of the ski expedition featured in our film, Moving Line. John creates beautiful kinetic sculptures with pieces that balance precisely and move under the slightest influence of wind. That movement is what John identifies as art.

In 1978, John and his companions skied across the state of Colorado, becoming the first people to do so. The trip was monumentally inspirational to his career as an artist, as they found themselves gliding across the land, leaving a continuous line behind them. That moving line is what connects John's inspiration for self-expression to his love for the outdoors.
