Building a business is a weird thing sometimes.

On one hand, you have some pretty crazy freedom available to you. You can do wild things… like take off for a 3-week wilderness trip (see the P.S. if you don’t know what I’m talking about).

On the other hand… with no set “working hours” or time that you clock in and out each day… it can be easy to let your business completely consume your life.

It’s honestly gotten to the point that it’s become almost a cliche these days to talk about “work-life balance”.

A few years ago, Jeff and I flew out to Florida to meet with Tony Robbins. Jeff led the interview, while I managed the set and crew as we filmed the interview.

(That was no easy task! The only space available for the shoot was outside on Tony’s porch, on a super-windy day, right next to the ocean… 😅)

But during that interview, Tony said something that’s stuck with me ever since…

He doesn’t try to live a balanced life. It isn’t even a goal of his.

In fact… he likes the imbalance.

We filmed that shoot a number of years ago… and it’s stuck with me ever since.
