With heavy yet grateful hearts, we share with our community that we will be closed for an unforeseeable period of time.

We are beyond grateful for the person who reported the smoke and for the phenomenal fire fighters who saved the Ore House.

Thankfully, no one was at the restaurant at the time of the fire. While the kitchen and surrounding areas will need a lot of attention, we will come back stronger than ever.

We appreciate your support and look forward to opening our doors again.

For those who have asked how they can help, please stay tuned. We will share soon.

In all the hustle bustle, we like to take time every Friday to open a bottle of wine from our cellar to talk about and enjoy as a team.

Sometimes, we learn about history, sometimes geography, sometimes geology, sometimes an iconic winemaker, sometimes vinification, sometimes farming, often all of the above.

Every week is special, but this week was something extraordinary...

We opened up one of 9 vintages we carry of Cabernet Sauvignon from the iconic Grgich Hills Estate in Napa Valley. To say we were all floored is an understatement. It isn't every day you get to taste a wine from such an important wine maker as Milijenko "Mike" Grgich, and it was immediately apparent why he has had such a huge impact on the wine world.

Little did we know when we opened this wine on December 8th, less than a week later, Mike would pass. The world has a wonderful way of guiding us when we are open. Look him up. If you are into wine, you should definitely know his story.

You might not believe it, but in that tiny bowl, is a soup that starts by caramelizing 30 quarts of onions. Multiple batches of stock. And most importantly, a whole lotta love, and just a few tears... from the onions, ya know.

When the cocktail begins in the kitchen, you know it's going to be good!

The emergency exit is tempting when several things decide to stop working during service hours or right before, but instead of jumping ship, we call in the handyman.

What you don't see in this photo is the 3 year old little guy who loved to take everything apart, including his mama's iron. Ironically, everything was always put back together, in working order, minus a few extra parts. πŸ™‚

Even today, mom is by his side, checking out his handiwork and reminiscing about all the things taken apart throughout the years.

And yes, she is still wondering why there are so many parts left over...
