When we tell you that there is bear activity in the area and to properly dispose of your trash making sure the dumpsters are closed and latched, we are not joking!

Bears are very smart and motivated to find food, especially when their high country food sources are low due to warmer weather patterns in the region.

This past Sunday we had a bear break into our guest laundry room because someone left food in the trash can. This morning, we awoke to trash strewn all over because someone didn’t close the bear proof dumpster all the way, ensuring it was latched.

We have called Colorado Parks & Wildlife who will now have to trap and euthanize this bear(s) per their policy. Such a shame!

Please help us protect wildlife and the safety of all our guests by following these simple rules:
- Do not leave food or trash outside your campsite, day or night. Keep food locked inside your camper, car, or our bear proof food storage boxes.
- The bear proof dumpsters slide open on the sides and have a locking latch mechanism to ensure a bear cannot open.
- Do not put out bird seed feeders as they can attract bears.
- Keep dogs on a short leash.
- Accompany your children around the park, do not let them take the trash out to ensure the dumpsters are being used properly.
- If you encounter a bear, do not panic or run away! Stand your ground and get big and loud!
- Carry an air horn and bear spray with you on hikes and/or while camping in case you encounter a bear.
