Umbilical hernias are very common in infants, and this is an important reminder of what not to do.
🚫 Please do not tape, strap, or place objects over the hernia.
These methods do not help and can actually cause harm.

✨ The good news:
Most umbilical hernias close on their own as your child grows. We simply monitor them over time, and if it has not resolved by around age 4, we can refer to a specialist for further evaluation.

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching at OPEX at Emory School of Medicine is meeting first year medical students at the very beginning of their journey. They arrive with a mix of excitement, nerves, dreams, and big expectations💫
