While today is a monumental day in our country, it is also a profoundly sad day as I witness the reactions of so many people to the Supreme Court's ruling that simply states that there is no fundamental right to abortion in our Constitution. In short, the ruling confirms that the Constitution is neutral on abortion.
Our Declaration of Independence states that all people have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The very first right is the right to life; without that right, no other "rights" can be exercised.
What does it say about our country that some people are saying that "they hate this country" because of this ruling? People are angry that that the Supreme Court has found that there is no right for anyone to kill another human being.
People should be celebrating the fact that we are seeking to end violence against children - because abortion is nothing less than killing children. Some of these people are the very same ones who want gun control to protect lives! But if we are truly about protecting life, we do not pick and choose which lives to protect - and when we start protecting life at its very beginning, it is easier to respect and protect all life.
What kind of society approves of killing unborn babies and at the same time decries other violence against children? Are not both things horrible?
And while so many are claiming that women have lost their right to "choose," the simple truth is that no one has the right to choose to kill another human being - even if it is her own child growing within her womb. Women continue to have absolute control over their own bodies; however, their rights end where the rights of another human being begin. Women do not have, and never had, the right to end the life of another human being!
Easter Greetings 🙏
