Reflection
It’s a sad day for large format landscape photography as Fujifilm announces their decision to discontinue Velvia 50 in 4x5 and 8x10 formats.
Velvia 50 reignited my interest in film photography several years ago and I have often said that if it were to be discontinued I would probably go back to shooting digital (or find a new hobby altogether). In my opinion there is no capture medium, film or digital, that comes close to the perfection of a properly exposed frame of Velvia 50.
On a more positive note — despite the fact Velvia 50 is currently sold out virtually everywhere, it is presumably still being produced in both the 35mm and 120 formats. Hopefully this is truly the case and will be for many years to come.

Decided to bring a little color back into my feed with a fall capture from just outside the aptly named town of Aspendell, California.

Vasquez Rocks is one of the most recognizable rock formations in American cinema and television history. Even if you’ve never heard of them, you’ve definitely seen them on screen portraying everything from the Wild West to the final frontier of space.
The rocks themselves haven’t changed much in the last 25 million years or so, but the lenses we have viewed them through sure have! This footage shows how Vasquez Rocks appear today, captured on equipment from 1933.
