Are your pipes about to burst? Are they already frozen? Here’s some timely tips to keeping your pipes from freezing during this cold snap.
Look for frosty pipes, that’s a sign they may already be frozen. Give us a call for an assessment because thawing them could lead to a flood.
No water? That also a sign a pipe may already be frozen. Again, give us a call because it’s better to be safe than sorry.
How to prevent frozen pipes...
1. insulate your pipes. You can buy what you need at any box box home improvement store.
2. Seal cracks/holes in exterior walls.
3. Install electrical heating tape to known problem pipes.
4. Keep a faucet open and slowly dripping during a cold snap. Ultimately you’ll want to fix this problem but keeping the water moving could get you through a cold snap.
5. Open cabinets where the water pipes are to allow the warm air to reach them.
6. Attached garage? Keep the doors closed.
7. Keep your thermostat at a consistent temp during cold snaps.
8. Open interior doors to allow warm air to circulate throughout house.
