148th Air Guard Fire Department

Over the past couple weeks, we have had some special visitors at the fire station. Students from Starbase summer camp have learned about airfield fire trucks, toured the station and participated in a obstacle course where they bandaged Firefighter Nagler and Firefighter Marshall and even got to spray water from a fire hose.

The firefighters also got to visit Starbase and assist with Rocket Launch day and enjoy lunch with the students!

B-Shift traveled to Volk Field in Wisconsin for live fire training this past week. A few of the training exercises completed were ARFF vehicle modulation, fuel fire extinguishment and interior aircraft fire extinguishment. Thank you Volk Field Fire Department for hosting and aiding in this valuable training.

On 14 March 2023 around 10am, Minnesota Task Force 2 was deployed at the request of the Minnesota Duty office to assist on scene of a roof collapse at the Miller Hill Mall. Four members from the 148th Air Guard Fire Department and 19 additional crew members from Virginia Fire Department and Duluth Minnesota Fire Department were able to quickly collect specialty rescue gear and meet on scene. The Mn Task Force 2 has training in building collapse and shoring techniques. No injuries were reported at the collapse.
