When Amanda was admitted with severe preeclampsia, the room quickly filled with urgency, monitors, and fast-moving care teams.

But it was Lori, a nurse in the UnityPoint Health - Finley Hospital Family Birthing Suites, who stepped in and brought the steadiness and comfort. Lori explained every step, answered every question, and made sure Amanda never felt alone or afraid - even in the most intense moments of labor.

Over multiple days, through fear, discomfort, and uncertainty, Lori became the family's anchor. A portion of the nomination from Amanda, Andy, big sister Renley, and Baby Jude read:

“It was scary, but my nurse Lori never let me feel it for long. She wrapped us in her arms like family and made us feel like one in a million. We adore her. I joked to my husband that if Lori talked me through it, I could do anything, including rob a bank!”
