Vestige Counseling

Something a little different for this page. I’ve been trying my hand at poetry and felt inspired by the red winged black bird. I’ve been reflecting on how the first to leave high control groups often leave with scarlet letters and are dismissed by the remaining members who used to be their closest friends. Their stories of trauma are discounted as members try to find reasons to blame them for the mistreatment they received. I hope this resonates with some of you ❤️

This topic is a complicated one. It’s scary to analyze, especially if you are religious / spiritual. What if I’m guilty of these things? What if other people are doing this to me and I thought it was normal? Does my whole belief system go out the window if my community is doing this? I hope to make this topic less intimidating for those who want to learn. More of my page will be for the purpose of education on this topic going forward, so please comment or message me directly with what kind of content surrounding this topic you hope to see. And to the survivors of spiritual abuse: I see you. I want more of the world to understand how you’ve been impacted. It’s an unspeakable pain that cannot be ignored.
