Teton County Idaho Search and Rescue
07/01/2026
Notice: Effective Tuesday at midnight, June 30, 2026, all burn permits issued through Teton County Fire Rescue will be suspended until October 1, 2026. At that time we will re-evaluate conditions. Outdoor cooking and recreational fires in an approved fire pit are still permitted.
Due to Teton County experiencing extreme drought, and expected above normal fire potential for the months of July, August and September we are making this decision out of an abundance of caution. We are expecting fire activity in SE Idaho to continue to pickup in coming weeks. We will continue to monitor conditions and evaluate the need for further fire restrictions. Please help us keep Teton Valley safe this Summer.

2nd River Rescue in 7 Days
On Wednesday, TCISAR responded to a report of kayakers in distress after becoming trapped in a strainer on the Teton River.
All human individuals were safely rescued and transported to the Bates Boat Ramp.
Unfortunately, one dog, outfitted in a PFD, did not survive.
Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased dog—we know dogs ARE family too.
TCISAR would like to remind everyone that recreating on rivers, even the mild appearing Teton River, has its hazards. This is especially true when the river is in higher water flows like we are currently experiencing.
Wear your PFD, be safe, be aware, have fun.
And if you get in trouble, call 911, we will be there to help you.
