A healthy life starts within. Genetic testing is vital in determining the risk of developing certain diseases, screening, and sometimes medical treatment. Different types of genetic testing are done for various reasons. Although genetic testing can provide vital information for diagnosing, treating and preventing illness, there are limitations. For example, if you're healthy, a positive result from genetic testing doesn't always mean you will develop a disease. On the other hand, in some situations, a negative impact doesn't guarantee that you won't have a specific disorder.

Genetic Cancer Testing (CGx) tests a person with a strong family history of certain types of cancer to see if they carry a gene mutation that increases their risk. If they have an inherited mutation, they might want to have screening tests to look for cancer early or even take steps to lower their risk.
