Just up on the site, a whole mess of old Omni magazines from the 70s and 80s. Do you remember Omni? This awesome science fiction and occasional science fact magazine was available in waiting rooms at your local doctor, insurance agent, guidance counselor, etc. and was a great read! Interestingly, each of these is stamped on the back with a logo denoting that they were held in the Penn State science fiction library, which I do seem to remember from being there (Engineering dept.?). Free Comic Book Day is back — first Saturday in May! Special free titles available while supplies last, plus enjoy a special one-day-only sale of 20% off comics, graphic novels, and trade paperbacks! In-store event only; sale does not stack with existing discounts or offers.

The friendlier, more conversational version:

OK! Basics for new attendants. A bunch of special comics are published for this event only (the whole store is not free, hurr durr), and we make a big display of them on the back wall (normally the new release shelves). There are lots of little signs that say "FREE" to indicate exactly which titles are free — plus the actual books will have a Free Comic Book Day header on the cover to sort of scream it. We allow you to take up to one of each title, but please don't abuse that privilege; many of the titles are aimed at kids, and we want to get new readers INTO comics! Only take titles that you're genuinely interested in — no backpacks full of stuff that you plan to resell. We're also running a special sale of 20% off all things that are basically books. Back issues, new issues, trade paperbacks, graphic novels, manga — all on sale! The only things that aren't are titles already discounted, like the half-off bin, because 1) stacking two discounts doesn't program well in our point-of-sale system, and 2) COME ON. That's about it! Please be patient as we handle any rushes or lines; the whole staff will be present, so we should be able to get you squared away pretty easily!
