ANA’s team of 8 volunteers has returned from a week of health screenings in 12 elementary schools on the Navajo and Zuni Nations. Along with 17 students from University of New Mexico-Gallup nursing program, 832 students were screened. New this year was the partnership with the University of New Mexico Ophthalmology Department. During the first 2 days of screening, 6 doctors and 4 med students came to determine the correct prescription for students who were found needing glasses following the Lions Kidsight vision screening. This allowed students to choose their frames on the spot! Another first, Dr. Sherly Alex, Aaron Alex, and Dr. Phil Alex performed both dental evaluations and dental education for all the students in Zuni’s Shiwi Ts’ana Elementary School. Alex arranged for dental health kits for 1,400 students – which were distributed to students in both Zuni and Navajo schools. Gratitude and appreciation to all these wonderful volunteers for their time, expertise, and stamina for a great week of health screenings.

Many thanks to the team from Doylestown Presbyterian Church who spent much of last week working at the Community Pantry. During their time there they repackaged:
- 21 boxes of crackers were broken down, totaling 10,500 packets and 5,500 packets of peanut butter and jelly for the Food for Kids bags
- 28 cartons of cereal were broken down, totaling 2,240 small boxes.
- 55 boxes of plums were bagged, equaling 1,600 pounds
- 300 boxes were each packed with 14 healthy meals for the Mutton-Food is Medicine Program. This totaled 4,200 meals for the clients of the program.
- 18 bulk cheese packages
In addition, the Mission Team undertook several other tasks, including packing Food for Kids bags, serving customers who came to the Pantry for food, repacking large cereal bags, packing multiple pallets for the commodity food program, and repacking bacon, eggs, and various other items for the Pantry.
Thank you to each and every team member for a job well done!

The National Charity League - Central Bucks Members Only has taken on ANA as a charity to support. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to mothers and daughters serving communities together. In the two months we have partnered , they have stuffed our June newsletter and our Garden Party invitations. They came twice to sort the wonderful clothing our shoppers purchase, and pulled what was needed for two of our schools. They will be helping with a number of jobs at our Garden Party on August 16. We look forward to a long association with this very helpful group of moms and daughters!
