5 things to consider when hiring a Marketing consultant >>>>>

Outsourcing any role can be tricky and marketing is no exception. There are many benefits to having someone with a fresh perspective to market your business but before you jump in, consider these 5 things (believe me, you and your consultant will work better together if you are on the same page)

1. Just like a new staff member they are new to your business, so they need time to understand your brand and how you work. Give them time to do so. They are not going to know everything they need to in a week.

2. You are paying for years of experience, so be prepared to pay accordingly. They are not junior staff so having realistic expectations will ensure everyone's time is not wasted.

3. They are not 5 people in one – too often I see one role advertised and the skills need to include being a strategist, brand specialist, social media expert, website developer and SEO manager in one role. C’mon really!!

4. Listen to the advice you are paying them to give you (otherwise what is the point)

5. Communication is key. You will need to be involved in the process as there are tasks that require your unique IP.
