STATEMENT FROM THE SLS TEAM: PLEASE READ IN FULL!

The events that occurred this past Saturday have forced us to address an issue that has been growing within our community for some time.

Since taking over management of SLS, our administration team has implemented a permission-based meet strategy, strengthened relationships with property owners, increased coordination with local law enforcement, and worked to create a safer, more organized, and family-friendly environment for our attendees.

The overwhelming majority of our community supports these efforts. Approximately 90% of attendees follow the rules, respect our venues, and help make SLS a positive place for enthusiasts to gather.

Unfortunately, a small minority continues to engage in behavior that threatens everything we have worked to build.

Every location we use today requires significant effort to secure and maintain. When individuals choose to ignore the rules through reckless driving, revving, burnouts, drinking, disorderly conduct, or other disruptive behavior, they jeopardize our relationships with property owners, law enforcement, and the community.

If your idea of a car meet involves reckless behavior, violence, intimidation, or complete disregard for the rules, SLS is not the place for you.

This issue reached a completely unacceptable level on Saturday.

While members of the SLS administration team were removing an individual from the event for violating our rules, that individual discharged a firearm and fired multiple rounds in the direction of members of our administration team.

Let us be absolutely clear: there is no place in SLS for violence, threats, reckless behavior, or criminal conduct of any kind.

When members of our administration team can no longer feel safe enforcing the rules, it becomes clear that a line has been crossed.

As a result, enforcement of our rules will be stricter than ever before. Individuals who engage in dangerous, disruptive, or threatening behavior should expect to be removed immediately and permanently from SLS events.

The firearm incident remains an active criminal investigation. Out of respect for the investigative process, SLS will not be providing additional public comment regarding the circumstances of the incident at this time.

If you witnessed the incident, have photographs, video footage, or any information that may assist investigators, we encourage you to contact the Johnstown Police Department directly.

We also want to extend an open invitation to law enforcement agencies throughout Colorado to continue working with us. The vast majority of enthusiasts who attend SLS events are law-abiding individuals who simply want a safe place to enjoy their passion for cars. By working together, we can identify and remove those who endanger others while preserving a positive environment for the broader automotive community.

To the thousands of attendees who continue to support our mission and represent this community in a positive manner: thank you.

The future of SLS will be built on accountability, respect, safety, and cooperation. We remain committed to protecting our locations, our community, and the family-friendly environment that has made SLS successful.

Anyone causing issues will be removed immediately. Reckless behavior will be reported.

Please be respectful of the property, neighboring businesses, residents, and law enforcement. We want to continue using quality locations, and that only happens when everyone does their part.
