THE ULTIMATE PENNY WAR FUNDRAISER

One,two, three, four we’re declaring PENNY WAR!!

It’s time for some friendly community competition, all for an amazing cause! We are officially kicking off our Ultimate Penny War Fundraiser, and our three local law enforcement departments-Stewart County Sheriff’s Office, Dover City Police Department, and Cumberland City Police Department-are ready for battle!!

Check out the pictures below to see which adorable animal represents each team and to understand the strategy. The rules are simple but competitive:

* Positive Points: Drop pennies in our favorite department’s jar to add points.

* Bombing Strategy: Place silver coins and bills in a rival’s jar to subtract points from their total!

Which team will come out on top? You can cast your “vote with change” by visiting the donation jars at Stewart County Sheriff’s Office, Dover City Police Department and Cumberland City Police Department. Or you can use the Venmo link in the comments to sent “Pennies” to your favorite department or “Bomb” a rival department!

The best part!!! This entire competition is designed to “Raise Funds for a Great Cause.” All proceeds raised from this battle will go directly to support Stewart County Animal Rescues.

EXTRA PATROL DURING THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND

The Sheriff’s Office will have extra patrol, starting Friday July 3rd through Sunday July 5th. Deputies will be enforcing all traffic violations, such as DUI’s to keep everyone safe. Stewart County Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to have a SAFE and HAPPY 4th of July weekend, and Happy 250th Birthday United States of America, land of the FREE and home of the BRAVE!!!

I normally don’t respond to false information or allegations shared on social media. Most people are able to separate fact from fiction and recognize when certain individuals have an agenda behind the information they are spreading.

One recurring claim has attempted to discredit not only me, but also the dedicated men and women who serve in our Detention Center. I have consistently stated that the Stewart County Detention Center has not failed a Tennessee Corrections Institute inspection during the eight years I have served as Sheriff.

Some refuse that to accept that fact and instead, continue to misinform others. Rather than continue to debate the issue, I contacted Deputy Director William Wall directly for clarification. His response speaks for itself. I’ve highlighted the portion that clearly confirms the facts I have continued to share.

Some may still try to twist his words or discredit his email, but the facts remain the facts. If anyone questions his assessment, I encourage them to contact him directly.

I am incredibly proud of our corrections staff. Maintaining eight consecutive years of certification doesn’t happen by accident, it takes professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and a commitment to doing things the right way every single day.

OUR DEPUTIES STILL CONTINUE GREAT WORK

No secret that the Sheriff’s Office is tough on drugs and especially drug dealers. If you come to our county dealing drugs and get caught you will have to pay for it.

On Monday June 29th, Lt. Robbie MacDonald observed a vehicle traveling West on Hwy. 79 near 232 at a speed of 72 in a 55 mph zone. Upon stopping the vehicle he smelled an odor of ma*****na. The passenger of the vehicle who was also the owner of the vehicle, was very nervous when questioned about drugs in the vehicle. Lt. MacDonald observed what he believed to be m**h in the door pocket of the vehicle, and turned up m**h in the passenger’s purse as well as m**h and baggies in a bag in the backseat. The female was also found with a bag of m**h in her pants between her legs as well as a crack pipe. In addition to being arrested for over $500.00 in cash, her vehicle was seized. Arrested was Melissa Mihalik. Great job Lt. MacDonald, getting the drugs off the streets.
