Introducing “Clover” 🍀

Tateishi Harumi (1916) was a pivotal figure known for his commitment to preserving traditional printmaking techniques while exploring new artistic expressions. One of Harumi’s most acclaimed prints, “Clover” (1934), portrays modern Japanese womanhood with a sense of confidence and ease. The piece captures the elegance and effortless grace of its subjects, reflecting a broader theme seen in other works of women dressed in the refined posture characteristic of the Japanese Showa Era. The use of landscapes and floral elements in “Clover” particularly highlights Harumi’s skill in blending traditional and contemporary aesthetics.

Recreating this piece with live floral elements, and the effortlessness captured by Tateishi was a challenge of technique and skill, using live monochromatic botanicals instead of fabric to create her long white dress that almost blends her into the landscape. A picture of an effortless type of womanhood; one where we are self-possessed and at ease and one within the world.

Fleurs de Villes (FLUR - DUH - VILL) is an international luxury experiential brand that creates bespoke floral events with top local floral designers to showcase each city’s world class talent and create stunning displays of art.

From September 18 - 22, visit Prudential Center for the Boston premiere of Fleurs de Villes ARTISTE - a free, 5-day immersive exhibition celebrating Boston’s floral artistry, inspired by the iconic collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA).

You are also invited to extend your Fleurs de Villes ARTISTE experience by visiting more incredible MFA-inspired floral mannequins on display at locations throughout the city: 200 Clarendon, Boston Marriott Copley Place and the Sharf Visitor Center at the MFA.
