Fire Week is underway at the Wiregrass Public Safety Academy!

Today, our cadets got their first taste of what it takes to become a firefighter. We started the day by getting acquainted with physical training (PT) and personal protective equipment (PPE), giving them an introduction to the fitness, discipline, and equipment that are essential in the fire service.

The day also included a small taste of the Recruit School Maze, where cadets experienced some of the challenges firefighters face when operating in unfamiliar and confined environments.

This academy is designed to give local teens a hands-on look at the fire and police service and the dedication, teamwork, and perseverance required to succeed in this profession. We are excited to watch them learn, grow, and challenge themselves throughout the week.
