Knocked out this little fixture this morning for a small production run of some thin discs we have to machine. We will be making a second identical fixture as well. Since we are able to hold 10 parts at once, and it takes about a minute to machine one of the parts this gives us a run time around 10 minutes. That will give our operator time to unload and load one fixture while the other one runs minimizing spindle down time.

It's finally Friday, and the start of a long holiday weekend! What better way to end the week then by finishing up 100 of these A2 tool steel parts.
We start out by machining each end of a piece of stock, so that we have something to hold onto in the lathe to allow turning the outside to size. Then it's off to the fourth axis where we add two thru bores 90 degrees from each other. From there we cut the stock in half to give us our two parts. Next, it’s back into a lathe to face them to final length, and finally back into the fourth axis for the 4 tapped angled holes on each end!

This morning we had pulley blanks our customer sent us that needed modifications.
In the 1st Op we are holding on to the hub of the pulley in the lathe to bore out the inside for bearings and a snap ring, while also putting a relief groove in the teeth on the outside.
In the 2nd Op we are again in the lathe and using a split ring over the teeth to hold on to the part to cut off the hub.
Only thing left to do now is bag and label the parts and ship them back to the customer.
