Alaskan winters can be brutally long and hard and one of the most anticipated times of year is the annual spring bear season.
The count down every year begins as the daylight and temperatures start to increase. With liberal bag limits and an abundance of bears, Alaska is the mecca for black, brown and grizzly bear hunting.
No stranger to this spring tradition, Trevor Embry made the most of his spring season when he arrowed this big boar at just 23 yards and watching him drop in sight. Amazingly, this is Trevor’s 7th brown/ grizzly bear with a bow.
When he’s not hunting, Trevor is a father, a pharmacist, and the President of the Alaska Bowhunters Association.
For this hunt, his gear selection included, KUIU’s Proximity top and bottoms, Kenai Jacket and HD Mud Boots.

"It was the 4th day of our hunt with John X Safaris, and we headed up to the Great Karoo for some mountain hunting. We were in a very remote, high-elevation canyon where we spotted a giant Vaal Rhebok buck at the top, around 8,000 ft.
"We started the long climb to the top of the mountain. The PH was incredibly excited about this buck. He was talking about the anticipated shot when I told him my son Cody, who was 13 at the time, was going to be the shooter. Clayton spent the next 30 minutes trying to convince me that I should be the shooter. I told him, "Cody's got this."
"We finally got into position above the buck, who was with about a dozen does approximately 250 yards below us. There was very little cover between us and them. The PH warned us that these Vaal Rhebok would bolt if they saw any movement. It was a stressful belly crawl to the edge of the rock outcrop to set up.
"The 28 Nosler was slid into position, bipod extended. Cody centered the crosshairs and pulled the trigger.
"Everything exploded, but the PH confirmed that Cody made a great shot, then hoisted him into the air with incredible enthusiasm, saying, "My Little Champion." It was a special moment shared by three men on the mountain. We were all blessed that day.
"Our three weeks in South Africa were life-changing. We can't wait to get back."
Cody is wearing Attack Pants, Peloton 240 Full Zip Hoodie and the Guide Pro Jacket.
