Don’t worry folks, we found her!

06/22/2026

If you read yesterdays trivia, you might have caught on to our trick question, there wasn't just one right answer... because BOTH A and D are 100% true!

🦆Here is the answers!

✅ A) - TRUE:

Ducks absolutely must ingest tiny rocks and dirt (grit). Since they don't have teeth, those pebbles sit in the gizzard and act as the mechanical grinders to crush their food.

✅ D ) ALSO TRUE:

Geographics matter! A famous study showed that ducks actually develop regional accents—city ducks quack louder and rougher to compete with traffic noise, while country ducks have a much softer quack.

❌ B ) - FALSE:

A duck’s feet actually contain a massive network of blood vessels! They don't freeze on solid ice because of a clever biological system called counter-current heat exchange. The warm blood flowing down from their body constantly warms up the cold blood returning from their feet before it chills their core. It's a built-in heat exchanger, not a lack of blood! 🥶❄️

❌ C ) - FALSE:

While Wood Ducks are famous for roosting in high trees, they don't hyperextend their hocks (knees/ankles) to do it. Instead, they are equipped with sharp, strong claws on the ends of their webbed feet that allow them to physically grip tree bark and branches just like a backyard songbird! 🪵🦅

Stay tuned for our next trivia question!

HAPPY FATHERS DAY 🚜

06/18/2026

The news is saying that we can reach 113-118 degrees today! It’s officially "pre-heat" weather in Texas. Please make sure your birds (and all livestock) have constant access to fresh water so they stay cool and don't end up a golden crispy backyard BBQ.

We try to keep our page strictly focused on professional content and the work that goes into our operations, but today we would like to share one of the main reasons why we do what we do. We are so touched to see our daughter already dreaming of becoming a farmer. Between her love for animals and her hilarious 'Chicken Superhero' title for mom, we are assured that the future of our family farm is in good hands.

DAY 2 Trivia Question is already posted!!!!!

DAY 1 TRIVIA FOLLOW UP!

Question: The U.S. has some bizarre laws on the books.
Which of these is actually a real, enforceable law

THE CORRECT ANSWER WAS…

Reusing Egg Cartons!

According to 4 Texas Administrative Code § 15.8 (f), egg cartons cannot be reused except by the original packer. This is an enforceable state regulation in Texas. The rule exists because egg cartons are porous and can harbor pathogens like Salmonella, making them difficult to sanitize properly for resale. Additionally, retail cartons contain specific printed codes that trace back to a licensed packing facility. If you reuse a carton with someone else's label, you are misrepresenting the source of the eggs, which creates a significant legal and safety liability.

Here’s the break down of why the other answers were incorrect:

Honey Jars and Tamper-Evident Stickers 🍯

This is incorrect because honey is naturally antimicrobial, which makes it incredibly shelf-stable. Because of these unique properties, there is no state-level mandate requiring honey to have a tamper-evident seal. While it is a common industry practice to seal jars for customer peace of mind, the law does not classify it as a requirement in the same way it does for more perishable food items.

The Right to Protect Livestock💪🔫

This is incorrect because it is often presented as a simple "get out of jail free" card, which it is not. Under Texas Health and Safety Code § 822.013, you may only use lethal force against a predator if it is currently attacking/about to attack. You cannot legally kill an animal just because it has a history of killing livestock (even your own) or simply because it wandered back onto your property. If it is not posing a direct present immediate threat and currently in the act of attacking or about to attack your livestock, the law does not authorize lethal force.
…. But we won’t snitch.

Grazing Near Historical Landmarks🏚️ 🌾 🐐

This is incorrect because there is no general state law prohibiting livestock from grazing within 100 feet of a historical landmark. Any restrictions of this nature are typically found in local city zoning ordinances or private property covenants that apply only to specific, protected sites. It is not a statewide rule that applies to all historical landmarks in Texas.

Bottom line: What are often labeled as "bizarre laws" are typically nuanced public health, safety, or land-use regulations. Always check the official Texas Administrative Code for the most accurate information on agricultural compliance.
