2022 Hope Scholar - William Harper
William is a recent graduate from Renaissance High School. Earlier this summer, he began his college journey in The University of Michigan’s Bridge Summer Scholars Program. During high school, he was a remarkable student inside and outside the classroom. He was a member of various E-Sports team, Cranbrook’s Upward Bound, and Connect Me Tutoring as a volunteer tutor to students in grades K-8th grade.
We were very impressed by William’s response to one of our essay questions regarding program implementation in his community! His response was, “I've noticed that a lot of kids my age struggle with their emotional intelligence. They might not think they have anger issues or depression, for example, but I definitely can tell based off of my interactions with them. This could stem from a multitude of things, but some will never know how to solve their issues in a healthy way. If I could develop and implement a program for my community, it would be accessible, free therapy.”
We are so proud and excited to keep up with William and his journey as he continues college this fall!
Congratulations, William!
