Freedom House Detroit

To celebrate Juneteenth (June 19) and World Refugee Day (June 20), we hosted a FIFA World Cup watch party in collaboration with Detroit City FC, Detroit’s professional soccer club! We watched the 6/17 DR Congo vs Portugal match on our new TV, generously donated by the Mann Family, and DCFC players joined us to watch the game and eat lunch.

This event was not only a fun experience and an opportunity to watch the World Cup, but it was also a time for reflection. DCFC believes in the power of soccer to bring people of all cultures and backgrounds together, demonstrating the values of Freedom House Detroit, Juneteenth, and World Refugee Day. Together, we celebrated freedom, justice, and equality, and remembered those who have paved these pathways.
