That means more than 2.3 million children are living a reality like Pure Heart Scholar, Ayrah. This past Sunday, Ayrah visited her father. When asked what her favorite part of the visit was, she simply said, “just being there.”

Can you imagine the heart of a child who is just grateful to spend time with their parent—even inside a prison facility. 😢

Pure Heart’s Family Reunification Program was developed to keep scholars connected to their parent. We provide funding support for phone calls, video visits, postage for letter writing, JPay services, in-person visits, parenting classes for incarcerated parents and those transitioning back home, a caregiver relief fund, and a caregiver support group.

Because we understand the significance of maintaining that bond—and the importance of removing barriers for caregivers.
No matter the circumstances, a child sees their parent as their parent—and loves them unconditionally.

Mentorship, dedication, and consistency—often the very things young people need most.

Last week, Terrion Arnold of the Detroit Lions spent his evening on the court with Pure Heart Scholars, showing what it really means to show up.

Mentorship isn’t just a moment—it’s commitment. It’s positive reinforcement. It’s being present when you say you will be. Most importantly, it’s creating a safe space where scholars feel seen, valued, and supported.

We’re grateful for leaders like Terrion who are intentional about pouring into the next generation.

Every scholar deserves to feel seen, valued, and safe in their educational setting—especially those carrying the invisible weight of a parent’s incarceration.

When schools create spaces of understanding and compassion, it turns stigma into support and their silence into belonging.

We are grateful to be able to create a safe space for Scholars in their school setting. Breaking the cycle, one Scholar at a time. 💜🧡💚
