🇺🇸 The biggest lie consumers have been told is that our purchase doesn’t matter.
Who or what it supports doesn’t need to be considered.
It does.
A few years ago,
my husband left the stable career he had spent years working for- serving in the Marines to even have a chance at. We left that comfort & poured everything we had into starting Backbone Home Furnishings, it wasn’t because we dreamed of selling furniture. 🤣
(LOL we’re still laughing about this.. we’ve asked so many times “really, God?!” … Christian went from “selling fighter jets to the navy” 🛩️ to… furniture lol)
We didn’t inherit a family business.
We didn’t have investors.
We didn’t have industry connections.
We didn’t have a safety net.
What we did have was a DEEP conviction.
A belief that where we spend our money matters. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
It casts a vote for what we want more of.
A belief that small businesses still matter.
A belief that American manufacturing still matters.
And a belief that consumers deserve the opportunity to support companies whose values align with their own.
We want to give a platform to more of the “good guys” in this industry, putting more money into the pockets of hardworking Americans- not the alternative that is so common today when we only look at buying what’s “fast, cheap and easy”…
but don’t understand the true cost of that..

For several weeks now, we’ve been operating without air conditioning. While it certainly hasn’t been ideal, we refuse to let an obstacle stop us from serving our customers the best way we know how. (We are tenants and do not own the building.) At this point, we believe we’ve done everything within our authority to help move the situation forward. While we continue hoping and praying for the AC to be repaired, we’re choosing to focus on what we CAN control: taking care of our customers and our community.

Story time going through Hell & SIZZLING SUMMER SALES! 🥵 🇺🇸
The last several weeks without air conditioning again, in the middle of a heat advisory during 2 of the most important weeks in summer sales falling over Independence Day have been very hard to say the least. 🥵😭
But it’s also shown us how many GOOD, incredible people there are out there. We have felt so much support and love.. It’s encouraged us in a very dark time.
We have gotten so many questions on this situation- I can clarify that:
We do not own the building, are only leasing.
This situation is not in our control at this point.
We have not been told if or when AC will get repaired, but we have paid for HVAC diagnostic and identified the issues. The repair options financially exceed our believed responsibility as tenants.
We are praying that our AC gets fixed, as it has negatively impacted our business and every day is so brutal! 97.2 degrees indoors is awful.

While I don’t encourage this, their visit meant so much to us, and there are so many others I want to say THANK YOU to!

We’ve had people come in and say they want to “sulk in the sauna” with us 🤣 as it’s was 97 degrees!
Customers taking “sweaty selfies” and posting and tagging us 🤣
We’ve had customers come in on referrals from near & far.
I had a customer pray over me in store 😭
The shares and sending people our way means more than you know and more than I can say right now.
My friend Andrea dropped off this “faith” sign 🪧 with scripture on the bottom. She said “when any of you get too hot, I want you to flip this over and read it!” 😭🙏🏼
Our new friend Zach drove all the way here with several dehumidifiers to help us keep our inventory from being damaged due to high moisture readings. We may have had a much more devastating problem if it weren’t for his commercial dehumidifiers!
Christian and I have been keeping the fan and bottled water stores in business!
Our staff, despite being drenched in sweat has been in good spirits and know that the mission we have to move forward is an important one. I’m so grateful for, and proud of them. It’s not easy to be in there all day right now! 🥵
⛈️ I’m reminded that in the middle of a storm, there are so many angels 👼 among us (many not mentioned yet and I have so many more thank yous to post!).
My testimony through some of the hardest times in my life these last few years is that at rock bottom, I found Jesus beside me.
When problems are WAY too big to handle on our own, giving it to him has brought peace that transcends all understanding.
I wouldn’t know Him like I do now, had I not been put into situations that felt like HELL.
So if you’re going through Hell of your own, turn to Him. I promise that nothing feels better or means more in this life and after!
God will fight all of our battles if we get on His path.
It’s never too late to turn to Him and start living for him- no one is too far gone & I am praying for souls to find the Truth because it changed my life forever!
Thank you Jesus for sending Angels 👼 all around us to remind us that there are miracles in the valleys, and that we can still serve people well in THEIR valleys!

😭🥵😭
I don’t even have words to form a good caption, here are the facts.
-our store is currently over 97 degrees inside 😭
-the moisture reading was dangerously high 😭
-one of our teammates had to leave early due to being in the brutal heat so long.
-we do NOT own this building! We lease it.
We moved our business here 2 years ago,
after doing a large renovation at our expense.
The building was vacant for several years before & required a lot to move our inventory here and get occupancy. (Many have asked for this backstory)
-We hired a certified HVAC company who we’ve worked with in the past as tenants, and are familiar with the unit, when this issue began again a few weeks ago.
They were able to diagnose that there are leaks in the coil.. that needs repaired (possibly more leaks) and then would need refilled with Freon or R-22.
(Recommend replacing as it’s very old but did offer solutions to try to get us up and running outside of our financial possibility)
The diagnosis labor and trips alone, exceeded our cap as tenants of yearly HVAC repairs.
We (allegedly in my opinion and experience) made parties aware on multiple occasions and asked for repair and help with a solution.
Expressed concern of excessive heat, negative business impacts we had already experienced when the AC went out several weeks ago.
At this time, there is no plan that we are aware of to restore AC. This is not an isolated issue. This is all allegedly, in my opinion & experience.
What we are doing:
-to prevent anymore business loss due to extreme temps, and to maximize an important timeframe thus summer of our July 4th furniture sales periods,
We’ve extended sales on everything store wide, lengthened those periods of time to try to drive traffic in, despite the extreme heat.
-we are also willing to do virtual appointments, FaceTimes, after hours appointments with us as owners. We will do anything we can to help our customers and not let this further impact business.
-I have so many photos I want to shout out to SO MANY incredible kind humans who have come in to sulk in the sauna (lol I have to laugh or I’ll cry)😭

We have survived this so far only due to so many of our loyal customers and good citizens of the communities!
THANK YOU to ZACH GAENG who brought us de- humidifiers out of the kindness of his heart all the way from the city after seeing our post!
He took moisture readings on his professional reader and determined that some surfaces were 18% moisture!!!!
This is terrifying because it could have damaged all of our inventory!
Running them this afternoon has kept the percentage lower than extreme danger level and we need prayers that it doesn’t rise anymore 😭 it was 97.2 degrees in here today 🥵😭
I have so much more I want to say thank you to- but please go and support this man’s business- he was our angel today!
