As the grant program celebrates its 10th year, we’re recognizing its impact here in Iowa and highlighting a few of the more than 40 unique projects that have helped make our communities more livable for people of all ages.

• City Of Graettinger added pickleball courts to a local park.
• Cycling Without Age Johnson County expanded programming with a wheelchair-accessible trishaw.
• Logan Public Library transformed an underused lawn into a public gathering space with a gazebo and seating.
• The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand installed streetscape signage reminding drivers to watch for cyclists and pedestrians.

We can’t wait to share this year’s selected projects—check back next week for the 2026 announcement!

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨 AARP’s Bill Sweeney just issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected drug companies’ appeals challenging Medicare drug price negotiations:

“Today’s Supreme Court order is a major victory for older Americans who have struggled for far too long to afford the medications they need. AARP fought hard for this new law giving Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug prices because no American should ever have to choose between filling a prescription and paying for groceries, rent, or other basic necessities.”

In addition to AARP’s long-fought advocacy to give Medicare the authority to negotiate lower prescription drug prices, AARP and AARP Foundation have filed numerous amicus briefs defending the law against challenges brought by drug companies, underscoring the harm older Americans would face if the negotiation program was struck down.
