This may be one good thing that comes out of the messy scandals at Fort Hood, Texas this summer. Murdered soldiers, both male & female, initially missing, were marked as "Absent Without Leave," without much thought or attention. Detailed investigations were not carried out and as a result, some on Fort Hood in recent history almost got away with it. It was only the outcry of families that stopped this malpractice. If covered up murders existed elsewhere in Fort Hood as as result of the policy -- they certainly exist elsewhere.
