I am grieved to hear of the passing of my longtime friend Senator Julian Garrett. Iowans benefit from having a fair number of attorneys in the legislature, and his perspective and insight will be missed. As a man who wore many hats (farmer, coach, legislator, and executive branch employee) in the same vein as some of our Founding Fathers who were also attorneys, he served the people of his district well.
