Edward: Carlisle made a promise that there would always be a piano, in every place we live.. but that's a story for another day. These pictures are of Carlisle and myself, from a trip to Denmark not long ago - sharing a piece of music that goes back to the beginning of everything.
Carlisle: I'd been practicing medicine in Chicago since 1911; and in late October of 1917, a patient had been so grateful for my help that they gave me a gift they'd acquired on a trip to Connecticut just a few years earlier: a musical composition written by Jean Sibelius: Sibelius Impromptu No. 6 in E Major Op. 5 No. 6. They'd purchased this after seeing the composer on his tour in the summer of 1914, and insisted I should have it. I found the work instantly moving, and it proved even more so when the world seemingly stopped a short six months after. This piece, with its movement from gentle beauty into melancholy, seemed to embody the change we were all witnessing with the Spanish Inflenza. Thus, I found this constantly in my thoughts - including the fateful day Elizabeth Masen begged me to save her son. She died soon after, with her son - Edward - near that door, as well. I answered her last request... and thus, our family was born.
(These pictures were taken in Denmark on October 4th to celebrate Twilight's 20th anniversary while I was over there performing! Thanks to Agustin for travelling down for it and having a small Twilight celebration amongst all the Elvis-centric fun of the rest of the weekend! He's just started his Carlisle cosplay, and you'll be seeing him more as it progresses, so give him a follow when you can!)

"Its Twilight.. Its the safest time of day for us, the easiest time. but also the saddest in a way.. the end of another day, the return of night."
(Off to see "Twilight In Concert" tonight! Can't wait!)

Any fellow Twilight fans near Randers, Denmark on October 3rd and/or 4th (2025)? I'm on my way there this weekend for something unrelated that I couldn't pass up, but thought I'd see who's close! If this weekend goes well, I may be out this way a bit more often, and then perhaps we can get something Twilight started in the area! That could be fun! More planning news soon, but wanted to share this in the meantime. 😊

Looking ahead to 2025..
This is a year full of promise, as are they all - but also great societal obstacles to overcome. I'm glad to have 2024 behind us, but many will be going into 2025 with just cause to be worried, even scared. To all who read this, I want anyone feeling that to know that I share that, and I'm here in any way I can be. It's easy to feel isolated, many systems are set up exactly for that purpose - but that's not where strength is.
This community is proof that when people come together, great things can happen. It's one of my favorite things about it, because true community has always been important to me, and it enforces a core belief of mine. Sometimes, things come together in ways that you didn't expect, and the people you find there are not always the ones you envisioned. Embrace that, even (or especially) when it's painful, as it's a part of life.
There are a few things nearly in the rear view mirror for me - and that feels good. Because I'm way beyond ready for less shifting sand and more solid ground. There's more to do yet, but it's closer. With your kind permission - and, perhaps, your help - 2025 will be the year it gets going.
So I wish you all a Happy New Year - be good to one another in the years ahead, and most especially: Be Safe.
