Breaking down barriers through sport and recreation!
Active Maribyrnong was proud to partner with Brimbank City Council, Disability Sports Australia and RecWest Braybrook to deliver the Westside All Abilities Unleashed Program on 2 June.
The day celebrated inclusion, connection and the joy of being active, with participants enjoying a range of modified sports and activities including 🏀 basketball, ⛳ golf, 🏸 badminton, ⚽ football and adapted bikes and trikes.
Here's how we went:
✨ Over 30 students participated
🏫 Students attended from Rosamond School and Melton Specialist School
👧🧑 Ages ranged from 5–18 years
♿ Participants included young people with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, vision impairment and hearing impairment
By adapting activities to meet individual needs, we're helping build confidence, develop new skills, foster friendships and demonstrate that sport and recreation is for everyone.
A huge thank you to our partners, schools, staff and participants for making the day such a success. Together, we're creating a more active, inclusive and connected Maribyrnong.

People's identities, experiences and communities overlap. That's why the Diversity and Inclusion in Sport Alliance brings together organisations working across disability, cultural diversity, LGBTQ+ inclusion and safe sport.
Everyone has a role to play in driving systemic change in sport.
