Exciting News! Welcome, Dr. Sergi, and welcome to a new era of vascular care at Griffin Faculty Physicians!

We're growing again, and expanding access to specialized care with the launch of our new Vascular Medicine service, led by Dr. Michael Sergi, in Shelton CT, at the Griffin Ivy Brook Medical Center.

From artery and vein conditions to blood clot management, wound healing, and minimally invasive vascular procedures, Dr. Sergi provides expert, compassionate care focused on helping patients improve circulation, reduce symptoms, and stay active and healthy.

Please join the Griffin Hospital School of Allied Health Careers in congratulating Sharon Costa, one of our partners at Middlesex Hospital on the successful completion of her first Phlebotomy Hybrid class.
She and her students achieved an incredible 100% pass rate with an overall class average of 92%—an amazing accomplishment and a reflection of the time, energy, and dedication she put into making this first cohort a success.
We're excited to keep the momentum going as the next cohort gets underway in September, and we can't wait to see the program continue to grow.

It is with sadness that we share the passing of Evelyn ( Lynn) Werdal on June 26, 2026. Lynn was a key figure in Griffin’s history and played an instrumental role in introducing Planetree model while serving our VP of Patient Care from 1984 through her retirement in 1999.

Evelyn inspired the best of all that she encountered through high expectations and her belief in the importance of doing what is right for patients and for one another. She challenged people to be prepared, accountable, and professional and expected those standards to be upheld consistently every day. Behind her high expectations was a remarkable warmth, deep caring and compassion, and a genuine desire to help people grow. She was a mentor who helped people recognize the intelligence and strength they may not have seen in themselves. Her vision, compassion, and determination helped establish Griffin as a recognized leader in Planetree person-centered care through human connection, and relentless pursuit of perfection.

We honor Evelyn's lasting contributions and are grateful for the foundation she helped build. Her legacy will continue to guide our work for years to come.
